To the roof of Andalusia – hike to the top of the highest mountains of Southern Spain, the Mulhacén (3482 m) and the Pico Veleta (3398 m). Sierra Nevada and its most beautiful and interesting side. A breathtaking walk through forests, greens, rivers and mountain seas, enjoy the fantastic rocks and fields of snow! The starting point for all tours is the beautiful village Capileira in Sierra Nevada.We suggest one relaxation day here after the hiking tour. |

Mulhacén – Tour, 2 days trip: a excursion for every person who can manage an 8 hours walk per day. The tour lasts 2 days with accomodation at 2500 meters in a typical mountain hut/refuge.
Day 1:
Hike is starting 9.00 - 10-00 am from Capileira, which is little white village in the Albujaras, Capileira is situated on a heigtht of 1436 m and we will climb up to the refuge at 2500m on this day, crossing through a stunning gorge and will have amazing views.
Normally we arrive the refuge around 16.00 and have time here to enjoy the views of the mountains there in the sun and will relax the rest of the day,
we will have dinner there and sleep in a typical dormitory mountainhut- (there are showers, bathroom, also they provide blankets, but is better to take a small sleepingbag or sheets) .
The altitude difference for the 1. day will be ca.1300m up and 300m down through the gorge of Poqueira to the refuge.
Day 2:
We will climb up around 8.30 to the Caldera on 3000m and will start the last 450 m to the top of the Mulhacen ( 3482m) and having our picnic there around 13.00 - 14.00, afterwards we will be on our return to Capileira, which will be around 6 hours walking down to the village,
we will arrive Capileira around 18.00 - 19.00 pm
The altitude difference for the 2. day will be 1000m up and around 2000m down.

Pico Veleta y Mulhacén – Tour, 3 days trip: an entertaining 2 mountain top tour that lasts approximately 7 hours per day during 3 days. You pass 1800 m hight and sleep one night in a typical mountain hut at 2500 m and the second night in a modest emergency hut at 3060 m. ( you need a good sleeping bag )
Pick up service from Malaga can be arranged, also staying over night in a hotel in Capileira ! |

Things to bring:
good backpack for walking, solid trekking shoes, hat, walking sticks( if you want to ), sun cream, sunglasses, personal care/ medicaments,
sleppingbag( for 3 days trip) or sheet,( for 2 days trip) also everybody needs some free space for the picnic, which we provide, but has to be brought up from all persons, sharing the food ;)
The level of trekking for the 2 and 3 days trip is medium for everybody with a normal physical condition, nothing technical or climbing.
Sometimes is convenient to arrive one night before in Capileira, its a 4 hours drive by car from Tarifa and about 2-3 hours from Malaga, so could be an early morning or driving one night before, there are plenty of nice and clean hostals.
Transfer or hostal can be arranged.
Please note that these routes are not recommendable for persons with heart diseases!
